As an obsessively curious home cook, I love the idea of a cookbook devoted entirely to cornbread. I didn't love the dated design of said cookbook, however, so I gave it a gentle push into the present. I chose to retain the original woodcut illustrations for the character they brought to the table, but added more breathing room overall and fixed some issues with readability.
Each recipe takes up one spread, so the user doesn't have to turn the page while cooking.
Most recipes came with sidebars like the one above, presenting a unique design challenge.
The book was hand bound in a simple and beautiful cotton fabric, navy blue.
